Vocational Qualification Delivery – Port of Aberdeen

It was great to see Peter Suttie, Port Operations Manager, and Belle Sierina, Environment Manager, at the Port of Aberdeen finalise their COTC qualification in Hazardous Waste Treatment and Transfer. This has been a really interesting experience working for the Port of Aberdeen and both Peter and Belle. The Port plays a vital role in the National programme of decommissioning of subsea infrastructure from the North Sea Oil Industry.

The Port have two environmental permits which allow them to accept these infrastructure components for processing on the quayside before being taken for recycling or disposal. It is a complex and highly technical process involving so many stakeholders and specialised logistics. It was a lovely day for the facility walk round yesterday and there was plenty of waste decommissioned subsea infrastructure on the quayside and being processed during the walk round.
