Momentum Builds: CETAP’s Summer of Progress

This post is part of my ongoing series documenting CETAP’s journey to help Bosnia and Herzegovina transition toward a circular economy.

As we moved into summer 2025, CETAP reached a new level of momentum. On 1 July we held our third Steering Committee meeting in Sarajevo, bringing together the main project beneficiaries to review progress and agree priorities for the next phase.

One of the highlights has been our series of introductory workshops in Bihać, Mostar, Sarajevo, Banja Luka, and Brčko — engaging more than 130 participants from 90 organisations. These sessions produced local SWOT analyses and valuable insight into capacity-building needs ahead of the autumn training programme.

We also advanced pilot actions to strengthen the secondary-raw-materials market, including preparation works on the development of the new Waste Exchange Platform — a digital bridge connecting recyclers and industry.

Parallel to this, CETAP’s communication team has been preparing a nationwide awareness campaign launching later this year. Our goal is simple: to make circular-economy concepts accessible, relatable, and actionable for every citizen. The strategy combines digital, broadcast, outdoor, and community engagement — inspiring people to rethink waste as a resource.

The enthusiasm from all sides has been inspiring. Bosnia and Herzegovina’s transition to a circular economy won’t happen overnight, but the direction is clear and the partnerships strong. With the foundations in place and public awareness growing, the months ahead promise to be our most productive yet.
