October 2024 – Bosnia & Herzegovina

At the end of October in Bosnia & Herzegovina we managed to host the Inception Phase workshop for the new EU funded technical assistance project on transitioning to a circular economy.

The Inception workshop was organized within the framework of the EU funded project “Technical assistance for improved materials recovery from waste through separate collection, reuse and recycling based on circular economy principles”. The project commenced in June 2024 and will be implemented within 32 months period.

This event offered an opportunity to the project stakeholders to get acquainted and be informed on the project’s purpose, objectives, expected results, methodology and their role in the project.

During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to learn about the planned project activities aiming at harmonizing policies and regulations in Bosnia and Herzegovina with EU frameworks in the field of waste management and implementing circular economy principles.

The role of the Thematic working groups planned to be established under the project was also presented, along with the selected key steps in the process of strengthening the capacity of institutions.

At the close of the workshop the participants were engaged in discussions on the technical details of the planned activities. It was an excellent discussion session and extremely informative for the project team.

It was great to meet Assistant Minister Mirza Hujic from the Federation Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations we look forward to working closely with the Asst. Minister and his team.

The successful completion of Inception Phase of the project, which has had some major challenges at the outset, has been facilitated and supported throughout by Ms Renata Abduzaimovic, the Programme Manager from the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
