December 2024: End of Waste Project – Turkiye: Aluminium and Copper End of Waste Criteria Regulation and Guideline Workshop in Antalya

It has been a busy summer period on the End of Waste Project in Turkiye as we have been preparing End of Waste Legislation and associated guidance for the main sector stakeholders. We have had a number of technical meetings with the Ministry and had managed to prepare a number of draft pieces of legislation and guidance for their consideration.

The ministry have provided their comments and we now have the final drafts ready for consultation to a wider stakeholder group from the relevant sectors. This is being done through a series of consultative workshops which we will conduct over the winter period in various locations in Turkiye.

The first of those events was held in early December in Antalya for the End of Waste Regulation and Guidance for the Copper and Aluminium scrap. This was my second or third visit to Antalya for an event and it was strange being there in winter when is was rainy and grey. As most of you may already be aware it is a popular tourist destination in the summer months but at the moment the sea is grey and the stunning mountain peaks around it are all snowcapped.

The event was really good and we received a lot of excellent feedback to the legislation and guidance from the sector delegates. Further events will be held in Istanbul; Konya; Ankara and Izmir.
